Wyndham ranked among top green companies by Newsweek

In a recent article on the world’s largest hospitality companies, Wyndham Worldwide Corporations has been ranked number 81 of the 100 greenest companies in America. They also ranked the company in the top 10 of its Travel, Media and Entertainment category which is a huge accomplishment by this outstanding company. The Newsweek Green rankings report, which was the first of it’s kind from Newsweek, is based on the environment footprint, policies and practices of the 500 largest public traded companies in America. The list is composed by measuring revenue, market WyndhamGreen Newsweekcapitalization and number of employees.

WyndhamGreen is the company’s program which aims to manage energy consumption as a part of the overall strategy with all of the businesses and brands. Because Wyndham has many different properties and brands, WyndhamGreen is expected to have a large impact on the overall carbon footprint left by Wyndham Worldwide. The newly released WyndhamGreen Best Practices document shows the company’s water and energy conservation statistics, along with recycling, education, community programs and innovation.

The Wyndham brand developed uniforms created from plastic bottles which have been recycled. Each uniform requires 66 percent less energy and 90 percent less water to produce than a standard uniform. Wyndham has come up with ClearAirsm, which is initiative features allergy-friendly rooms designed at improving air quality. This is very good for travelers who might not be familiar with the area and may be allergic to pollen or any other typical allergins.
