WyndhamGreen rolls out childrens program
Wyndham Worldwide has been making a positive movement in effort to make the earth more green. As of last month, the hospitality company rolled out their new “WyndhamGreen Kids” program which is designed to teach children from ages three to fourteen the importance of keeping our environment and the world clean. Wyndham is providing the program to kids all around the world in hopes that their six-step program will be enough to make major changes. The six core strategies include Energy Conservation, Water Conservation, Recycling/re-using items, Education, Community Involvement and Innovation.
The program will be run out of the local headquarters in Parsippany, New Jersey and will be offering numerous programs and workbook activities through the WyndhamGreen website. WyndhamGreen is the company’s newly acquired sustainability program which was recently launched as an opportunity to manage their energy consumption. Wyndham has utilized the strategy and has began to incorporate their plan into more than 70,000 timeshare properties in 100 countries all around the world.
The company has already been honored with the “Green Pioneer” award from ConEdison Solutions for purchasing nearly 100% of the Parsippany locations electricity from wind generation alone. This marks a large milestone for the company, and for the industry in general. The headquarters is a LEED certified 250,000 square-foot building which has been modified to reduce water consumption, energy use and waste by between 10-30%. In another effort to stretch the program even further, uniforms worn by Wyndham employees have been spun from recycled plastic bottles. Each uniform requires 66 percent less energy and 90 percent less water to produce than a standard uniform. With all of the eco-friendly changes Wyndham is making, we’re all looking forward to what standards they will be setting next.
